Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DOES IT WORK?
There will be 50 treasure hunts, one in every state, followed by one more nationwide hunt. The winners of the first 50 treasure hunts will each win $5,000 worth of Bitcoin. Those 50 winners will go on to compete in the final treasure hunt for $1,000000 worth of Bitcoin.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The first treasure hunt will take place in Texas. The Texas treasure hunt is free to the 1,000 participants who already signed up. Texas earned the free treasure hunt (and the first treasure hunt) by being the first state with 1,000 people to sign up.
It will cost $50 to join in the other states, specifically $50 worth of Bitcoin. For those who don't have Bitcoin or don't know how to buy Bitcoin, we will walk them through the simple steps to purchase $50 worth of Bitcoin and use it to purchase their ticket for the treasure hunt.
CAN I ONLY PARTICIPATE IN THE TREASURE HUNT IN MY STATE?
No! You can participate in as many of the treasure hunts as you would like to. The Texas treasure hunt is already maxed out at 1,000 participants, but registration is open in the other 49 states. You can register now, and you will be asked to pay later when it is time for the hunt in the state(s) you have registered for.
WHEN WILL THE TREASURE HUNTS TAKE PLACE?
The treasure hunts will happen shortly after 1,000 participants register and then pay the fee in each state. The Texas treasure hunt will take place on Friday, August 22nd. The dates for the treasure hunts in the other states will be announced as registrations and payments take place.
HOW WILL THE CLUES BE GIVEN?
The clues will be released via email and text to the 1,000 participants in each treasure hunt on a pre-announced Friday morning at 8 am local time (local time in that particular state). The clues will be sent to the email address and phone number used to register for the treasure hunt. The clues will likely come in the form of a riddle, and participants must solve the riddle (or riddles) in order to find the hidden treasure.
HOW LONG WILL THE TREASURE HUNTS TAKE?
Although we can't predict with certainty how fast the riddles will be solved and the treasures found, we anticipate that the hunt will take 48-72 hours. If no one has claimed the prize by Sunday morning at 8am, we will release some clues that should ensure that someone is able to solve the riddle and find the treasure by Sunday evening.
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE TREASURE?
In the case of the 50 state treasure hunts, the treasure will contain a crypto-currency "cold wallet," which contains $5,000 worth of Bitcoin. The videos that have been released via social media may contain clues as to what type of container the cold wallet is to be found in. For the final treasure hunt, the treasure will contain a cold wallet worth $1,000,000 in Bitcoin.
HOW WILL THE WINNER BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE COLD WALLET, CONTROL THE BITCOIN, AND CLAIM THE PRIZE?
Instructions will be found with the cold wallet. By following the instructions, the winner will receive the Seed Phrase needed to access the wallet. Step-by-step instructions will be included, explaining how to use the wallet and how to access the Bitcoin.
WHAT IF A RANDOM PERSON WHO IS NOT AN OFFICIAL PARTTICIPANT HAPPENS TO FIND THE TREASURE?
The cold wallet will be useless for the person who finds the treasure unless they can email us and/or text us from an email address and/or phone number that was already registered for the treasure hunt. In the unlikely case of a stranger finding the treasure, we will include instructions for them to notify us, in which case we will have to modify the treasure hunt and hide a new container with a new cold wallet.
WHAT CAN THE WINNER DO WITH THE BITCOIN THEY WIN?
We will not give legal or financial advice, but the winner will control the Bitcoin, with the ability to transfer it to another crypto wallet or account, to sell it, to trade it for other crypto currencies, or to hold it for as long as they choose to.
HOW MUCH BITCOIN IS NEEDED FOR THE $50 FEE, HOW MUCH BITCOIN CONSTITUTES THE $5,000 PRIZE, AND HOW MUCH BITCOIN CONSTITUTES THE $1,000,000 PRIZE?
The conversion rate has been set as $113,837.70 US Dollars per Bitcoin. At that rate, the participation fee is set as .00044 BTC (approximately $50), the state treasure hunt prizes are set at .044 BTC (approximately $5,000) each, and the final prize is set at 8.784 BTC (approximately $1,000,000).
